How to get involved..

Dear friends,

The work on the protection of nature and environment aims to promote a healthy living environment and sustainable development. A globally goal for the 21st century is to achieve appropriate balance between social, economic and ecological aspects.

One of the precondition without which there is no sustainable development is – preserving biodiversity as a crucial condition for maintaining the ecological balance for each ecosystem!

ACTIVITIES OF THE BIRDS OF PREY PROTECTION FOUNDATION are dedicated to the protection and preservation of biodiversity in Serbia. On this path, we face many barriers, from problems in the functioning of the competent institutions, insufficient professional and administrative capacities to the lack of financial resources.

Unfortunately, there is often a lack of adequate financial support from the state authorities, in particular for the Marking program… » of the Griffon Vultures, as well as for the work of the The Rehabilitation Center for Birds of Prey… ».

In order to be able to preserve birds of prey and their natural habitats, we need good cooperation and support from public administration authorities, companies, but also citizens, individuals who know the importance of preserving these group of birds. Only by working together we can succeed!

If you support the Foundation’s goals and want to contribute to the work of protecting the birds of prey, there are various options available, and we will be very grateful for every aspect of your support:

1. BECOME A MEMBER OF THE BIRDS OF PREY PROTECTION FOUNDATION

Membership in the Foundation allows you to be informed about the activities of protecting the birds of prey in Serbia and taking part in some of them. More about that here…»

The annual Membership fee for members from abroad is 30 EUR.
The annual membership fee for members from Serbia is 750 dinars (RSD) for unemployed and 1000 dinars (RSD) for employees.

2. SUPPORT PROGRAM OF MARKING AND MONITORING VULTURES ON THE UVAC

The Birds of Prey Protection Foundation over 15 years marks a number of Griffon Vultures in Special Reserve of Nature “Uvac”, in order to follow the movements of these birds (more about that here… »). The complex and sometimes dangerous process of catching the young birds on an inaccessible nests, morphometric measurement, sampling and blood analysis, ringing of metal and plastic rings and setting of wing markers is done in cooperation with experienced alpinist-speleological teams and Rangers of the Special Reserve of Nature “Uvac”.

Each Vulture has its own Record with all information about him. When they leave the nests the Vultures often wander, crossing large distances. The information that our marked birds are seen is also entered into the database.

Unfortunately, this important activity for the protection of Vultures is not adequately supported by the state authorities of Serbia. The largest part of the costs are paid by the Foundation, with the help of donors, members, individuals and companies. Without their help marking would not be done despite the efforts we make to do it.

If you recognize the importance of such a great job and want to contribute to the survival of our Vultures, please support this Program:

Number of Account (EUR) of the Birds of Prey Protection Foundation is: RS35325960170004944168 (OTP Banka Srbija a.d. Novi Sad, SWIFT CODE: OTPVRS22).

3. THE REHABILITATION CENTER FOR BIRDS OF PREY

The “Rehabilitation Center for Birds of Prey ” is a unique place of this type in Belgrade and, unfortunately, in almost all Serbia (more about that… »). A large number of birds of prey such as the different species of owls, buzzards, kestrels, hawks, and even bigger eagles fall from the nests during the breeding season or on some other way they arrive in our Center.

We are all trying to help them and let them be released when they are ready. Of course, all of this, besides the great efforts of the members of the Foundation, also requires certain funds for the purchase of food, sometimes medications, veterinary service, but also the maintenance of the Center itself. That is why every donation to the “Rehabilitation Center for Birds of Prey” directly contributes to the protection of these birds.

By donations in any amount you are becoming a donor of the Center. Thank you very much.
