Three decades of work of the Birds of Prey Protection Foundation was celebrated in the most beautiful way. Members and friends of the Foundation visited the last refuges of indigenous populations of the black vulture and the white vulture in the Balkans. These two species have disappeared in Serbia. They visited the reserves in Greece: Dadia Forest and Delta Marice (Evros), and in Bulgaria: Studen Kladenets and Madjarevo. We were greeted by a warm welcome from our hosts, our colleagues, beautiful weather and birds. Our friend Dimitris Vasilakis tried his best to make this meeting unforgettable. In Bulgaria, our colleague Ivaylo Angelov was our lecturer and guide. We enjoyed the flight of the white vulture and the black vulture, of which there were 18 in the sky at one time. While we’re here, we couldn’t resist visiting the mouth of the Marica, which is the place with the greatest variety of birds in Europe, right after the Danube delta.
