The long-running Griffon Vulture marking programme, implemented by the Foundation for the Protection of Birds of Prey in the Uvac Special Nature Reserve, is of exceptional importance for monitoring the movements of this species and improving its conservation.
We introduced the practice of giving names to marked vultures in order to facilitate their identification and record-keeping, while also providing members of the public with an opportunity to actively participate in the programme. In this way, interested individuals become part of the Griffon Vulture conservation story, follow the movements of individual birds and support research and conservation activities. After all, every name has a story, and every story contributes to a better understanding and protection of these magnificent birds.
If you would like to become a sponsor of one of the Griffon Vultures by giving it a name, simply select the number of its wing tag from the list and send your proposed name to grifon@ibiss.bg.ac.rs. Please make sure to check the bird’s sex so that the proposed name is appropriate for a male or female. In addition, please:
Make a contribution of RSD 2,000 to the Foundation for the Protection of Birds of Prey bank account, specifying “Griffon Vulture Naming Sponsorship” as the payment reference. For international donors, the contribution is EUR 30.

- let us know: E-mail (grifon@ibiss.bg.ac.rs), NUMBER OF THE WING MARKER and your SUGGESTION OF THE NAME of the bird;
- and by payment to the account (RSD or EUR) of the Birds of Prey Protection Foundation the amount:
