Griffon vultures Vasilije and Nebojsa, with wing markings 41 and 43, who were rescued last year and spent the winter together at the Griffon Center on Uvac, are finally on the 7.6.2020. released in the Special Nature Reserve “Uvac”. In addition to being marked, the Birds of Prey Protection Foundation also equipped them with satellite transmitters and they are included in the monitoring program using satellite telemetry. This technology allows us to learn a lot about the behavior of these birds and plan active protection measures, but also, if necessary, to intervene effectively and thus reduce the risk of suffering.
Vasilija’s godparents are children from the extended stay “Ego” from Belgrade, while Nebojsa was named after a ranger who saved him from the lake last year. Thanks to the godparents!
The moment of release
After the release, Vasilija flew to Peshter, at a speed of over 70 km / h.
While Nebojsa stayed on Uvac, near Pavlovic Brod, at the place where the Uvac Reserve was practically created.
